●   ●   ●    such a great work as establishing and founding the Cause of Christian Science—manifesting so much wisdom in organizing and building up the Church and in giving its By-Laws for the guidance and protection of its members—is a marvel for which we can never be grateful enough, and which should prove an inspiration to each and every one of her followers. In Miscellaneous Writings on page 253 , she says, “Do the children of this period dream of the spiritual Mother’s sore travail, through the long night, that has opened their eyes to the light of Christian Science?” In reading these reminiscences, it is well to remember that they record only the last three years of her pilgrimage on this plane [and] that she had passed through many battle-scarred years, which seemed to take their toll of her physical strength so that she required more tenderness and care than in the earlier years.
