● ● ● consciousness regarding Life and its demand, together with its motive, purpose, desire, and aim, thereby changing the whole current of thought from a material, mortal mind basis to a spiritual perception of man and the universe as reflecting God and His handiwork in the world—and thereby enabling one to recognize God’s ever-presence, protection, and care in every way, at all times, and under all circumstances. In those early days of Christian Science teaching, the world at large had not accepted so mental a basis to work from, and this class was loath to let go of material power, physical sensation, and mortal life as realities, so arguments and discussions occupied many hours of time until a higher light dawned on the consciousness.
