Finalize and record your piece

Prayerful placement
The pieces in each magazine issue are carefully curated by our issue planners. Your submission is thoughtfully placed in one of the magazines based on how its metaphysical message best aligns with timely topics our readers may be considering and the healing mission of that particular magazine as described by Mary Baker Eddy in The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany (p. 353).
Recording audio of your piece
Once your piece is set for publication, you’ll be invited to read it aloud and have it recorded with the guidance of our Audio Team, so that JSH-Online visitors can listen to your piece. While your recording of your piece is optional, readers have shared how meaningful it can be to hear submissions shared by the author. Explore our different recording options below:
- Visit our studio: If you live local to Boston, our preferred method is to record your piece directly from our studios.
- With your phone: Follow these instructions to record from your phone via the Report-IT app.
- Remote with computer: Schedule a time to join a virtual studio session.
- Additional options: If none of the options listed above work for you, we can explore other methods for obtaining a recording, such as having your submission read by a volunteer provided by our team.
Tips for recording
- Find a quiet place with minimum background noise (without air conditioning, fans, lawnmowers, etc.).
- If you make a mistake, say “pickup” and start the sentence over.
- If English is not your first language and you’re interested in coaching, you can work with our experienced ESL instructor to help you through the reading of your piece.
