When Mary Baker Eddy at the age of seventy moved from a house in the center of Concord, New Hampshire, to a tidy estate on the outskirts of that overgrown country town, it was a matter of local note but caused no flutter in Paris, Rome, or Omsk. Nor, for that matter, in Battle Creek or Sioux Falls.
