Bow: 1821

The Baker homestead on the uplands of Bow looked down on the broad Merrimack valley where the river flowed from just visible mountains through woodland and farmland to the invisible sea. Only two or three generations back the land had been a wilderness, and some of the pioneer rigors remained to give a hard edge to life on the farms.
