Hundreds of people marched through Berkeley, California for a third night a row, blocking a major highway and stopping a train as activists in this ultra-liberal bastion protested grand jury decisions not to indict white police officers in the deaths of two unarmed black men on the other side of the country. Protesters blocked traffic on both sides of Interstate 80 in Berkeley, while another group stood and sat on train tracks, temporarily forcing an Amtrak train to stop Monday night.

Britain's Prince William and his wife, Kate, laid flowers Tuesday at one of New York City's most somber sites — the National Sept. 11 Memorial and Museum. The couple crossed the memorial plaza in pouring rain and wind, each holding a black umbrella. Kate smiled as she spoke with memorial and museum President Joe Daniels. The royals then laid a bouquet at one of two reflecting pools built in the footprints of the fallen towers. After paying their respects at the southern pool, William and Kate entered the underground museum that commemorates the attacks.

Police warned Hong Kong pro-democracy activists that they have until Thursday to leave a sprawling protest camp which has blocked traffic in the Chinese financial hub for more than two months. Authorities are set to move in after a court order authorized the removal of barricades, tents and other obstructions from the protesters' main camp in the downtown Admiralty district, setting the stage for a possible last showdown with activists demanding greater democracy.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has voiced hope for expanding ties with India during his visit there and sought to assuage New Delhi's concern about Moscow's ties with Pakistan. Putin, speaking in an interview with the PTI news agency released by the Kremlin on Tuesday, hailed a "privileged strategic partnership" between Russia and India, and said the two nations would move to expand it further during his Thursday's visit to New Delhi.

China's new stealth fighter could certainly "take down" its opponent in the sky, the president of China's top aircraft maker said on Tuesday, referring to its US-made counterpart. Lin Zuoming, president of Aviation Industry Corp of China (Avic), which developed the J-31 stealth fighter, made the remarks in an interview on state broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV). "When it takes to the sky, it can definitely take it down," he said, in a reference to the US-made F-35. "That's a certainty."

Nissan is recalling about 470,000 cars and SUVs worldwide to fix a problem that can cause fuel leaks. In the US, the recall covers about 134,000 vehicles with direct fuel injection engines. That includes Nissan's Juke SUV from the 2012 through 2014 model years, and the Infiniti M56 and QX56 from 2012 and 2013. Also affected are Infiniti QX70 and QX80 SUVs from 2014 and 2015.
