A nurse who was confined against her will at a New Jersey hospital after returning from West Africa where she treated Ebola patients said Wednesday that she's prepared to go to court if the state of Maine tries to quarantine her. Kaci Hickox spoke to NBC's "Today" show and ABC's "Good Morning America" from Fort Kent, where her boyfriend is a senior nursing student. She said she had no contact with anyone Tuesday and will have no human contact again Wednesday. But Hickox says if the restrictions aren't lifted by Thursday, she will go to court to fight for her freedom.

A mudslide triggered by monsoon rains buried scores of workers' houses at a tea plantation in central Sri Lanka on Wednesday, killing at least 10 people and leaving more than 250 missing, an official said. The military mobilized troops to help with the rescue operation as rain continued to fall in the island nation's central hills. Mud covered some of the destroyed homes to their roofs, and water gushing down hillsides indicated more slides were possible.

Children's rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai on Wednesday received the World's Children's Prize 2014 in Sweden, after winning a global vote involving millions of children. The awards organization cited the 17-year-old Pakistani girl for "her courageous and dangerous fight for girls' right to education." Yousafzai, who became the world's youngest Nobel laureate earlier this month when she was awarded the peace prize, said she was honored to win this prize, known also as the "Children's Nobel."

Honeywell says there's no evidence that a weekend leak of a compound used in uranium enrichment at its southern Illinois plant escaped the building. Company spokesman Peter Dalpe says no injuries resulted from the leak of uranium hexafluoride Sunday night at Honeywell's site in Metropolis. The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission has been notified, and Reuters reported Wednesday that an inspector from the NRC started an investigation Tuesday, according to NRC spokesman Roger Hannah.

An anonymous US official's reported description of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a[n expletive meaning] worthless coward, drew a sharp response on Wednesday from the Israeli leader - no stranger to acrimony with the Obama administration. The American broadside, in an interview in The Atlantic magazine, followed a month of heated exchanges between the Netanyahu government and Washington over settlement-building in Israeli-annexed East Jerusalem, which Palestinians seek as the capital of a future state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles plans to spin off sports car maker Ferrari into a separate company as a way to unlock value in the luxury brand and distinguish it from its mass-market parent. The company said Wednesday that spinning off Ferrari was part of a plan to raise capital to support the new merged carmakers' expansion plans. Fiat Chrysler's five-year plan calls for increasing net income by five times by 2018. Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne said in a statement that it was "proper that we pursue separate paths for FCA and Ferrari" following the completion of the merger of Chrysler and Fiat with a listing on the New York Stock Exchange earlier this month.

Facebook Inc's shares were set to open about 6 percent lower on Wednesday, a day after the company revealed aggressive spending plans for 2015. But analysts were taking a more upbeat view, saying the heavy spending will drive long-term growth and reinforce the social networking giant's market dominance. No brokerages cut their recommendation on the company following the release of its third-quarter results, and several said the price decline represented a buying opportunity.
